According to multiple industry sources, several Transpacific carriers have announced general rate increases (GRI) scheduled to take effect on January 1, 2016. These proposed increases vary based on routing (East Coast, West Coast), but generally apply to all shipments from Asia to the United States and Canada. As always, we at SPARX will do our best to mitigate any increases on behalf of our customers.
In addition, the Alameda Corridor Transportation Authority has announced an increase to the Alameda Corridor Surcharge (ACT), which applies to all containers transported through or into Southern California by rail. The below levels will take effect on January 1, 2016:
USD 24 per 20' container (up from USD 23)
USD 48 per 40' & 40'HC container (up from USD 46)
USD 54 per 45' container (up from USD 52)
If you have questions or concerns related to specific shipments, please feel free to contact your SPARX representative.
